Lost River Range's Invisible Children
by Rick Bauger
The Invisible Children, Crows Nest Peak el 9524', and Franklin Peak el 9386', play unobtrusively in the shadow of Invisible Mountain. These impish little phantoms of the Lost River Range stand in full view over Big Lost River Valley and guard the entrance to Pass Creek Gorge, yet they are reluctant to make their presence known. Recorded ascents of both summits were made in 2006.

CROWS NEST PEAK From the andesite boulder field at 8800' the view is north up Crows Nest Canyon. The 9524' summit is positioned behind the middle tower. The easiest route follows the gully to the right of the left tower, then follows the ridge east (right). Other interesting lines await exploration. 9/8/06

View NW to Crows Nest Peak el 9524' (prominence 384') which is
actually a southeast spur of Invisible Mountain. Framed on the horizon is the
Lemhi Range. Bell Mountain on left, and Diamond Peak right. 11/20/06

FRANKLIN PEAK el 9386' (prominence 486') north aspect. From Crows
Nest Canyon this is the easiest approach to the limestone summit. 11/20/06
