Gospel Hill is located roughly 1.1 miles west of Pyramid Peak and directly west of Upper Gospel Lake in the Gospel-Hump Wilderness Area. Although called a “Hill,” it is one of the five peaks comprising the Gospel Crags.  It’s west face is nearly vertical as it rises up from Upper Gospel Lake. USGS Sawyer Ridge

Access

See the Pyramid Peak page for access information.

Southeast Ridge, Class 2

The summit can be reached from any place along FSR-444. The southeast ridge begins    at the sharp turn just before the road descends down to the Upper Gospel Lake Viewpoint. There is parking along the road. The route ascends through a mixture of meadow and forest to the summit ridge. Once the southeast ridge merges with the peak’s long summit ridge, trees and granite outcrops complicate the route. Of course, the high point is at the far end of the summit ridge.

This sign is located next to the road at the base of the Southeast Ridge.

The highest point on Gospel Hill.

My GPS track. This route is just over a mile round trail with 300 feet of elevation gain.
