Mike grew up in Northern Idaho and has climbed well over 100 summits, mostly between the Canadian border and the Salmon River axis. A botanist by profession, he often selects summits that may host interesting sub-alpine or alpine flora. He also has been quite active in the Elkhorn and Wallowa Mountains of adjacent Oregon and scattered locations throughout the Rockies.
