Posted on December 9, 2019 by Tom Lopez
Peak 8923 (summit is in dead center) as viewed from a hillside to its Southeast. The left skyline is the upper half of the South Ridge. Livingston Douglas Photo

This peak is not in the book. Published December 2019 Peak 8923 is a ranked summit on the south spur of the west ridge of Point 10358 on the main Lemhi Range Crest. The south ridge is a magnificent scramble. From a distance, it looks problematic but it goes at a Class 2. You will see lots of evidence of … Continue reading →

Peak 9044 (Black Canyon West) by Livingston Douglas

Posted on December 9, 2019 by Tom Lopez
Peak 9044 as viewed from the summit of Peak 8923. The summit is the charred hump left of center. Point 8852 is the forested hump right of center. The rocky, knife-edged West Ridge is right of center (in front of the skyline ridge) and leads up to a ridge finger just left of Point 8852. It is a challenging climb. Livingston Douglas Photo

This peak is not in the book. Published December 2019 Peak 9044 is one of two obscure, forested peaks on the east side of South Creek, located near the mouth of South Creek Canyon. This peak is not in the book. Published December 2019 Peak 7413 is minor hump of rock, scrub, and forest located near the mouths of both Spring Canyon and Bloom Canyon on the west side of the Beaverhead Mountains. It is really just a bump on the long south ridge of Bloom Benchmark (9,723 feet). The easiest ascent route is … Continue reading →

Peak 8963 (Goddard Peak) by Livingston Douglas

Peak 8963 as viewed from the East. Livingston Douglas Photo

This peak is not in the book. Published December 2019 Peak 8963 sits at the head of Goddard Canyon. In reality, it is just another point (albeit a ranked one) on the long west ridge of Copper Mountain (10,303 feet). Peak 8963 is a forested peak and is a reasonably easy scramble from the Long Canyon ATV Trail/FST-184 where the … Continue reading →

Peak 7910 (Goddard South) by Livingston Douglas

Peak 7910 viewed from the north. Livingston Douglas Photo

This peak is not in the book. Published December 2019 Peak 7910 sits above Goddard Canyon on its east side. It is merely a bump on the massive southwest face of Copper Mountain (10,303 feet). It is a ranked summit but barely so. The easiest ascent route is via an old jeep road and the north ridge. Peak 7910 makes … Continue reading →
