The Climb

From the roadside pullout, hike south then southwest on the 2-track ridgeline road down to a saddle area. Continue following this road as it heads south then west then south up into the forest on the north face of Peak 8740 North. The road then leaves the ridge crest and bends southeast then south and levels off on the east side of the peak. Look for an old, weak 2-track road (not shown on maps) heading right/west up to the ridge crest. Follow this old 2-track up to the ridge crest then head left/south to reach the high point. The old 2-track doesn’t go all the way to the summit. The high point is a rise of sorts with a fallen tree on top. I built a cairn atop the exposed roots of this fallen tree to assist future climbers.
