Of all the Idaho peaks using the word “Bald” as part of their name, this Bald Mountain may be the most famous. It is famous because it is the centerpiece of the Sun Valley Ski Resort. The mountain is covered with ski runs and lifts, access roads and a number of buildings. During the Summer, some of the lifts are operated by the resort and you can use these to shorten an ascent. For those wanting the total experience, FST-201 leads from the River Run Lodge to the summit in roughly 3.8 miles with 1,500 feet of gain. USGS Griffin Butte
