Elevation: 4,632 ft
This large butte is located east of Shoshone and north of Dietrich, Idaho. The recent construction of two electronics towers on the summit was accompanied by road work. The remains of the butte’s crater are found on the north side of the summit. On March 28, 2017 the crater Contained a shallow lake.
Access the butte from the paved Dietrich Butte from either US-26/93 in the north or ID-24 in the south. This road goes past the butte’s western slopes. A fairly descent road leads east and then south to the high point. The butte!s terrain is open making the summit access by foot from any direction, The road is perfect terrain for a mountain biking ascent. Class 1.
