Dietrich Butte is a large butte located east of Shoshone, Idaho and north of Dietrich, Idaho. The recent construction of two electronics towers on the summit included some road work. The remains of the butte’s crater are found on the North Side of the summit. On March 28, 2017, the crater had a shallow lake. USGS Dietrich Butte
Access the butte from [paved] Dietrich Butte Road from either US-26/US-93 in the north or ID-24 in the south. This road goes past the butte’s West Slopes. A fairly decent road leads east and then south to the high point. The butte’s terrain is open, making the summit accessible by foot from any direction. The road is perfect terrain for a mountain biking ascent. Class 1.
