Flattop Butte is located east of US-95. Access to the peak begins at Milepost 7 on a good gravel road. The road is unsigned but some maps refer to it as Chipmunk Road. Follow the road southeast past a reservoir fed by Little McBride Creek and then the into the McBride Creek drainage. There are many ways to climb the peak and one is a 4WD road that zigzags up the peaks north slopes. We walked to the summit via the more roundabout track shown below. Depending upon where you start, you will have anywhere from 500-750 of elevation gain. Class 2.
