Jelly Bean Peak sits west of Mount Regan and Peak 9711. Although it is shorter than its neighbors, Jelly Bean Peak is quite rugged and impressive. USGS Stanley Lake

Access

From Grandjean [(B)(3)(a) on Page 209] or the Iron Creek trailheads [(B)(1)(b) on Page 208], hike to the first Trail Creek Lake.

Northwest Face/West Ridge, Class 3+

Hike east of the lake to the northwest side of the peak. Scramble up a Class 3+ wall and then easier Class 3 terrain to the summit. At the summit, there is a large metal box with Jelly Bean Peak engraved on it, commemorating a member of a summit party in 1987 eating jelly beans at the summit. Whoever lugged this heavy box to the summit must have really been passionate about this peak, naming it “Jelly Bean Peak.”
