Elevation: 3,036 ft
This peak is not in the book.
Peak 3036 stands guard over the entrance to the impressive Hardtrigger Canyon on the northern edge of the Owyhee Mountains southeast of Marsing. The Hardtrigger drainage drains a lot of country and culminates in a spectacular canyon at its northern end where it dumps out into the Snake River Plain. I will post some photos of the canyon below but first the peak.
The quickest access to this peak is from Marsing, Idaho. Take ID-78 east from Marsing for 5.5 miles. Turn south onto Clark Road and follow it for 3.0 miles to a signed junction. Turn left.
From the junction, follow the graded Road southeast as it parallels the power lines for 3.2 miles. Park just after climbing out of the Hardtrigger drainage where the road takes a sharp right turn.
North Slopes, Class 2
From your parking spot, climb due north up the grassy slopes that split tue peak’s cliff bands. It is just over 0.3 miles to the top with 560 feet of elevation gain. There are exceptional views of the Snake River Plain from the top.
