Peak 6220 is a pyramidal hump located just above Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery on the north side of Almo. This area is a mix of private and public land and this hike is almost entirely on BLM land, but it does cross a patch of private land at the cemetery. However, there is no fencing or signage to prohibit crossing the private land. USGS Elba

The Climb

From the cemetery entrance, hike west on a 2-track road on the south side of the cemetery fencing. Leave the road soon after passing the west end of the cemetery. Scramble northwest directly up the moderately-steep slope of easy scrub/scree/gravel and junipers to reach the summit. The summit has a tall cairn. The junipers are a bit cumbersome in spots and require some weaving but, overall, are not too bad.
