Access the trailhead from FS-474/FS-674 (South Fork Salmon River Road). Follow this road north to the signed trailhead at the confluence of Dollar Creek and the South Fork.

This trail at one time crossed the summit of Dollar Creek Ridge. The trail, like many in the area, is poorly maintained. John Platt’s trip report, linked below, discusses the trail’s condition in 2018. Nevertheless, the ridge can be followed to the summit.
