Access

Same as for Swede Peak. This is the final leg of a 4-peak journey that includes Swede Peak (8,512 feet), Peak 8569, Mandolin Benchmark (9,189 feet), and Peak 9043.

Southwest Face/Southwest Ridge, Class 2

The Climb

From the shoulder crossing on the east side of Mandolin Benchmark, follow FST-327 at it heads north then northeast down to an 8,580-foot saddle. Continue hiking along FST-327 at it climbs steeply northeast then flattens out to approach the west side of Peak 9043. After crossing a final high ridge saddle, leave the trail and bushwhack northeast up the face, then ridge, to reach the cairned summit of Peak 9043. This off-trail bushwhack is through easy, gapped sagebrush. FST-327 does not go to the summit of Peak 9043. You will probably think that [larger] Point 9000+ to the south is the high point. Alas, it is not.
