Peak 9315 is located on the north side of Horseheaven Pass in the Lost River Range. Its south face is a STEEP scramble from the pass. This is the first leg of a 2-peak journey that includes Peak 9315 and Peak 8624. It covers 5.5 miles with 2,125 feet of elevation gain round trip. USGS Burnt Creek

Access
FSR-117/Horseheaven Pass Road is located along Doublespring Pass Road/FSR-116 exactly 3.8 miles south of Christian Gulch Road. Drive southeast up FSR-117 to Horseheaven Pass and park in a pullout at a road junction on the pass (7,935 feet).
South Face, Class 2
The Climb
From Horseheaven Pass, scramble north-northeast directly up the steep south face. Work through some mountain mahogany and other nasty brush early on. Jog left then jog back to the right to the center of the face for the easiest going in this initial climb. Stay right of a rocky buttress partway up. Once clear of the mahogany and brush, scramble up short scrub and loose gravel on the steep slope to reach the cairned summit outcrop of Peak 9315.

North Ridge/East Spur, Class 2
The Descent
From the summit, descend north on the short grass of the wide ridge crest and angle right/northeast then quickly right/east again to reach a saddle at the head of a massive gully that separates Peak 9315 from Peak 8624. An old 2-track comes up to this saddle from the gully to the south. This 8,420-foot saddle connects Peak 9315 with Peak 8624 and is the conclusion of the first leg of today’s 2-peak adventure.
