Red Hill is located at the south end of Pocatello, just above the Mountain View Cemetery. Although Red Hill is on private land (probably City of Pocatello land), public access is allowed and an unofficial trail leads to the summit. USGS Pocatello South

Access
From Exit 67 on I-15 in Pocatello, drive northwest up 5th Avenue to [signed] Barton Road. Turn right/northeast onto Barton Road and drive 0.2 miles to a [signed] trailhead parking area on the left side of the road for the Red Hill Trail. Park here (4,547 feet).

Southeast Ridge, Class 1
The Climb
From the trailhead parking area, do NOT follow the paved trail heading northwest. Instead, follow an unofficial footpath that heads steeply northeast up onto the southeast ridge of Red Hill. Once on the ridge, the footpath follows the ridge crest northwest to the summit. The summit has the USGS Pocatello Benchmark and offers beautiful views of Pocatello.
