Red Mountain 8740

Elevation: 8,740 ft
Prominence: 1,400

Climbing and access information for this peak is on Page 118 of the book.

Red Mountain, a former fire lookout site, sits in the center of a large roadless area which includes two large basins filled with small lakes: Red Lakes Basin and Lost Lakes Basin. I have not visited this peak since 2008, which has been burned by forest fires in the meantime. Nevertheless, the peak and the Red Lakes Basin are still popular with peakbaggers and backpackers.  USGS Cache Creek
