This peak has been used as a fire lookout since 1934 and is still staffed. The heavy forest in this area gives away to a rocky summit and the lookout structure. Lewis and Clark came by the peak on their way to the Pacific. The view to the west from the lookout includes a big section of ridges that the Lolo Trail, Lewis and Clark’s route, follows west. The current lookout was built in 1963.
