Little Buttes, North is the northern of the “Little Buttes” which are mapped and located east of Menan, Idaho. While both of these buttes are on private land, Little Buttes North is not posted with “No Trespassing” signs and seems to be heavily used by the public via ATV trails. You should make sure there is public access before venturing on to this private property. Little Buttes South is antenna-clad and is heavily posted and should be avoided unless you obtain permission from the landowner. Both are unranked summits. USGS Rigby

Access

From US-20, take Exit 125 (Menan/Lorenzo) and drive west on the Menan Highway for 3.4 miles to a crest in the road, just above the cemetery and between the two buttes. Park along the highway (4,885 feet).

East Face/South Ridge, Class 2

The Climb

From the highway, bushwhack west up to the summit ridge through sand and junipers, using an ATV trail higher up to assist in the quick journey to the ridge. Once on the south ridge, follow it as it undulates a bit in its short journey north to the ridgeline summit. The south ridge climb is mostly, but not entirely, on sandy ATV trails. There is no summit cairn.
