Sunset Ridge is located due south of Tin Cup Butte. It is located on the east side of the Arco-Minidoka Road about 13 miles south of Arco, Idaho. It is most easily climbed in combination with Tin Cup Butte (5,590 feet) to its north. USGS Quaking Aspen Butte

Access

Same as for Tin Cup Butte. This is the second leg of a 2-peak journey.

Northeast Face, Class 2

The Climb

From the low connecting point with Tin Cup Peak just west of Tin Cup Lake, bushwhack south up through gapped sagebrush to reach Point 5507. Head southwest from there to reach the true summit of Sunset Ridge at 5,609 feet. The summit has a large cairn and triangulation posts/wiring.

West Face, Class 2

The Descent

From the summit, descend west through easy, gapped sagebrush to reach the A-M Road. Follow the road northwest for about ¾ mile to return to the road junction and your parked vehicle.
