Swanholm Peak is a lookout site in the Boise National Forest with a 4WD road to the summit. The lookout is no longer in use. USGS Swanholm Peak

The summit of Swanholm Peak is just ahead (June 1997). You can see the 4WD road in the lower left-hand corner. This road is more like a trail than a road like and is a great way to access the summit.
Updated Access
From Boise, take ID-21 toward Idaho City and Lowman. Just before Mile Point 57, take the Middle Fork Boise River Road/FS-268 east for 38.0 miles. Turn left onto FS-327 and go 5.0 miles to the Horse Heaven/Swanholm trailhead. Hike FST-050 for 4.0 miles. Please note that this area has burned in spots and, in 2013, a lot of the trail signs were missing. Make sure you have a good map when heading to the trailhead.
