There are 54 ID/MT “border peaks” that set directly on the Bitterroot Crest between Lolo Pass and Nez Perce Pass. This stretch of mountains is extremely rugged, remote and seldom visited. Perhaps this is why only 7 of the 54 peaks have official names. These peaks are listed below. The book includes 18 Bitterroot peaks in this section but only 6 of the 54 “border peaks” are included in the book. This is due to the lack of available information available in Year 2000 and my limited visits to the area, which is primarily accessed from Montana. The peaks are listed from north to south. Peaks are either linked to this website or LOJ if I do not have a page for the peak. This list does not include Bitterroot peaks that are not directly on the Bitterroot Crest.
