Access

Same as for Peak 8363. This is the third leg of a four-peak journey that begins at the Divide Creek trailhead.

West Face, Class 2

The Climb

From the 8,561-foot connecting saddle with Peak 8961, scramble east-southeast up through sagebrush (not too bad) then short scrub to the summit ridge. Go left/northeast to reach the high point of Peak 9161. The summit has a small cairn, with triangulation wiring laying on the nearby ground.

Southwest Ridge, Class 2

The Descent

From the summit, descend southwest then west to reach the gentle, 8,663-foot connecting saddle with Peak 9255. The terrain on this descent is short scrub initially with thicker sagebrush and other veg lower down.
