This peak is not in the book. Published September 2018
Peak 6394 is located at the center of the Schweitzer Basin Ski Resort. A ski lift leads to its summit, where there is a new, large building with a restaurant. As a wilderness experience, this mountain comes up short. However, as a great place to first experience the Selkirk Mountains and the surrounding country, the peak has a lot to offer. On this summit, you can enjoy food, drinks, and great views of the Selkirks, Lake Pend Oreille, the Cabinet Range, and the northern Couer d’Alene Mountains! USGS Mount Casey
Access
The Schweitzer Basin Ski Resort is a short drive from Sandpoint, Idaho via a paved road. Google Maps will get you there. Follow the road to the uppermost parking lot at the lodge village.
Nature Trail, Class 1
The ski lift does operate during the summer but the recommended route to the summit follows the Nature Trail. This trail starts at the northern end of the lodge area. The trail is signed and maintained by the resort. Be advised that the entire ski resort is on private land. Please obey the resort’s rules when using the trail. The trail climbs to the summit in 2.6 miles and gains just over 1,600 feet in elevation.
